Hey all.
I'm looking for the clip of the seizure-inducing episode of the Pokemon TV series. The episode name is "Electric Soldier Porygon" I believe. Anyway, the only clips I can find online are the same 134KB realplayer clips, and they're way too muddy for me to analyze frame by frame like I'm interested in doing. I've read some research on it online but I'm very interested in doing my own sort of project on it, and can't find it anywhere.
If anyone can help with an MPG or quicktime clip (if such a recording even exists) I'd be pretty grateful. Thanks.
ALTERNATIVELY: If anyone is good with image editing software and has a little sparetime, if they could please edit this image:
http://homepage1.nifty.com/home_aki/...okemon3822.png
it is a complete frameshot list of every frame, 24 each second, starting in the upper left and proceeding down and to the right.
If someone can assemble those images, and animate them 24 frames a second into a sort of videolike gif or something, that would be awesome. Thanks. aGAIN.

Whoa, this took ages. Anyways, here you are:

Cut the images up in paint, animated them in Flash.
Hmm, what's this?

Perhaps there is a reason there isn't a video available and instead all you find are screens captures...

Yeah, that thing is pretty dangerous. It really makes you wonder what they were thinking when they aired that on TV. Did no one watch it before it aired, or were they all unconscious?
If I was an evil person I would send it as an email attachment to everyone that ever wronged me (luckily I'm not evil). I think you should add it to the flash movie thread. (OK, maybe I am evil)
So what king of "research" are you doing on it Brandon? -if you don't mind me asking.

Well I have been thinking about doing either a paper or an N-Sider article about it. Maybe what research has been done on why it was triggered, the ramifications across the industry (not only gaming, but movies and television), what has happened since, etc.
Either way, Dragon, that's totally awesome and I am absolutely amazed that you took the time to splice that up for me. You get 983 bonus sweet awesome things.

Seizures aside...why did they even think that looked good in the first place? I'm not epileptic, and it didn't bother me in the slightest, but man does it look like crap.
A friend who doesn't know about the the Pokemon Seizure incident once told me that exposing someone to a screen displaying 'only' red and blue (in a dark room if I remember correctly) it would cause blindness. Now maybe this is as much a fact as the next alien, but I told him about the 'Pokemon episode episode' and afterwards there was concensus that blue and red together are crazy and dangerous.

What about 3D movies? The old ones with the red and blue glasses. They'd give you a headache after awhile but not make you go blind.

In all Nintendo games since last year, they've placed the warning immediately as you turn on the game. Might be an interesting article. Interview some people. Test the video on people until it causes someone to have a seizure and then interview him or her to ask what it was like...stuff like that.Maybe what research has been done on why it was triggered, the ramifications across the industry (not only gaming, but movies and television), what has happened since, etc.

I didn't have a seizure, but it did make me distinctly uncomfortable.
And no, I'm not volunteering to be your test subject, Glen.

Ah me! Guess and check is the only true science of the world! No matter how much numbers you crunch, the real world can through you for a loop. Whatta? You just viewed the video and reported on your reaction. What more would he need? And no, I'm not volunteering to be your test subject, Glen.
Well, you know, since I had an apparently unique reaction, I figured I'd probably be the candidate for the electrodes next -- my head already being shaved is icing on the cake.

Ahhh. Good thing trepanning has gone out of style, then.
After putting it full-screen and staring at it for a while I had a strange sensation like when you stand up really fast after sleeping or something and all the blood rushes to your head and you feel sort of dizzy. Hmm.

I find it incredibly funny how we, know full well what this video has done, each come here and view the video one by one. We're lemmings I tell you, lemmings!
To comment on zigg's reaction to the video, I too get an odd feeling. I don't know if it is because I know what *could* happen, or because it actually is "doing" something, but I suspect it is mostly the former (strobe lights don't really effect me, and since this is the same type of effect...).
Your a brave man Brandon. A "brave" man. -Did you sit in the dark to view it full screen? You know, to get the full effect?

Pikachu is the bain of all Japanese kids who easily get seizures. XD
Didn't they make fun of this in the Simpsons? I think it was the one where they went to Japan... (but they didn't exactly make fun of Pikachu, just seizure bit)
know that some people will play Thousand-Year Door and have a good time, and I do not necessarily hate life for playing the title, but the cold hard truth of the matter is that this game falters in a big way. The art and combat are killed in their tracks by the game’s downright shameful dialogue.
